BSNL Soft Launches Quantum 5G FWA in Hyderabad, Showcasing Indigenous SIM-less Network Solution

0

BSNL has soft-launched its Quantum 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) service in Hyderabad, introducing India’s first SIM-less, fully indigenous 5G broadband platform. The system, unveiled at BSNL’s Ameerpet Exchange, runs on a Direct-to-Device architecture, eliminating the need for physical SIMs and offering speeds of up to 980 Mbps download and 140 Mbps upload with sub-10 millisecond latency.

Quantum 5G FWA integrates an entirely Indian-built technology stack, including core, RAN, and customer premises equipment, developed under the Atmanirbhar Bharat mission. The plug-and-play device covers 85% of Hyderabad households without requiring trenching or fiber laying.

BSNL announced that pilot deployments will expand to Bengaluru, Pondicherry, Visakhapatnam, Pune, Gwalior, and Chandigarh by September 2025. Introductory tariffs are set at Rs 999 for 100 Mbps and Rs 1,499 for 300 Mbps.

This controlled rollout will gather feedback before a nationwide launch, positioning BSNL as the first Indian telecom operator to deliver indigenous 5G with SIM-less authentication. The event drew participation from BSNL leadership, telecom officials, industry partners, and academic institutions, reinforcing BSNL’s commitment to digital access, domestic innovation, and rural connectivity.
