JNPA Retains India’s Top Spot in Global Port Performance Rankings
Mumbai: India’s premier container gateway, the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), has once again emerged as the country’s best-performing container port in the latest Container Port Performance Index (CPPI) 2025 released by the World Bank and S&P Global Market Intelligence.
According to the rankings, JNPA improved its global standing to 22nd position, reaffirming its leadership among Indian ports and strengthening India’s presence in global maritime trade.
The achievement comes on the back of a record-breaking performance in 2025, during which JNPA handled 7.94 million TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units), registering a growth of 12.64 per cent over the previous year. The port also recorded an overall cargo throughput of 99.17 million metric tonnes, reflecting robust growth in container and cargo handling operations.

JNPA LEADS THE WAY
JNPA’s operational excellence was further highlighted by its highest-ever monthly container throughput of 711,412 TEUs in December 2025, alongside significant advancements in digitalisation, including the implementation of an indigenous Harbour Management System and Intelligent Vessel Tracking System (iVTS).
The latest ranking underscores JNPA’s growing stature as a global maritime hub and its critical role in supporting India’s international trade and logistics ecosystem.
With sustained investments in infrastructure, technology and operational efficiency, JNPA continues to set new benchmarks for port performance while contributing significantly to the Government of India’s vision of transforming the country into a leading maritime nation.
