Mumbai: Governor presents annual Mantralaya – Vidhimandal Vartahar Sangh Awards to journalists. Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari presented the K P Samak Lifetime Achievement Award to veteran journalist and well-known artist Prakash Bal Joshi at Raj Bhavan, Mumbai on Tuesday (20th July).

Senior journalist Chandan Shirwale (Pudhari), Kiran Tare (India Today) and Siddharth Godam (Lokmat New 18) were also conferred the Annual Awards for their outstanding contribution to journalism.

The Awards have been instituted by the Mantralaya aani Vidhi Mandal Vartahar Sangh.

Speaking on the occasion, Governor Koshyari said, despite the arrival of the electronic and digital media in a big way, newspapers have maintained their credibility and trustworthiness. He appealed to the media to wield the might of the Fourth Estate to criticize the executive, but added that criticism should be constructive. He felt that creative and positive work should also be highlighted. Mentioning that officials often paint a rosy picture before the executive, the Governor said journalists should bring to the fore the ground reality and truth.

Minister of State for Information and Public Relations Aditi Tatkare, senior journalist Bharat Kumar Raut and President of the Mantralaya Vidhi Mandal Vartahar Sangh Mandar Parkar were present on the dais.
