World Celebrates 11th International Day of Yoga with Record-Breaking Participation and Global Outreach

0

The 11th International Day of Yoga was marked by historic celebrations worldwide, with events held across 191 countries and over 13 million yoga sessions registered within India alone. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the 2025 edition reaffirmed yoga’s universal resonance with more than 2,000 global events held outside India.

Two Guinness World Records were achieved in Visakhapatnam: the largest yoga gathering at a single venue with 302,000 participants, and the largest mass Surya Namaskar demonstration featuring 22,122 tribal students. The Ministry of Ayush highlighted these milestones as symbols of yoga’s grassroots power and spiritual significance.

Fifteen iconic sessions were held at culturally and geographically symbolic sites across India, including the Siachen Glacier, Galwan Valley, Rohtang Pass, Chenab Rail Bridge, and Indira Point. Yoga was also practiced atop offshore oil rigs, along sacred ghats in Varanasi, and in desert forts and meadows of Kashmir, reflecting the theme “Yoga for All, Yoga Everywhere.”

In collaboration with the Geological Survey of India, yoga sessions were conducted at 12 heritage geological sites, blending yogic wisdom with India’s natural and scientific heritage. The event was supported by armed forces, government agencies, academic institutions, and millions of citizens worldwide, showcasing India’s civilizational ethos and soft power on a global stage.
