0

The revered Holy Relics of Lord Buddha will return to India on June 2, 2025, following an extraordinary month-long exposition across Vietnam. Transported via Indian Air Force aircraft, the relics will arrive in Delhi at 10:00 PM, accompanied by a high-level Government of India delegation led by Hari Babu Kambhampati, Governor of Odisha.

Initially set to conclude on May 21, the exposition was extended until June 2 at the request of the Vietnamese government due to the overwhelming public reverence and spiritual significance attached to the relics. Throughout the extended tour, the sacred relics visited nine cities, attracting over 15 million devotees, reflecting the enduring legacy of Lord Buddha’s teachings on peace and compassion.

Upon arrival in Delhi, the relics will be placed on public exposition at the National Museum on June 3, allowing devotees to pay their respects. That afternoon, a formal prayer meeting will be held, attended by senior monks, the Secretary General of the International Buddhist Confederation (IBC), and representatives from the diplomatic corps.

On June 4, the relics will depart Delhi in a Presidential cavalcade with full state protocol, traveling to Sarnath via Varanasi, where they will be ceremonially enshrined at Mulagandha Kuti Vihar. This marks the conclusion of an historic international pilgrimage, reinforcing Lord Buddha’s message of peace, harmony, and spiritual awakening.

The successful completion of this monumental exposition underscores the deep spiritual ties between India and Vietnam, celebrating a shared cultural heritage and the global influence of Buddhist traditions.
