President Murmu Marks Three Years in Office with Accessibility and Sustainability Milestones

President Droupadi Murmu completed three years in office with a series of landmark initiatives aimed at enhancing accessibility, inclusivity and environmental stewardship across Rashtrapati Bhavan and its associated estates. The President’s Estate has been officially declared a Divyangjan-friendly zone following the implementation of a 50-point accessibility framework recommended by the Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay National Institute for Persons with Physical Disabilities. Rashtrapati Bhavan, Amrit Udyan and the Rashtrapati Bhavan Museum have undergone structural and service upgrades to ensure barrier-free access for persons with disabilities.

In a major digital outreach initiative, the official websites of Rashtrapati Bhavan—rashtrapatibhavan.gov.in and presidentofindia.gov.in—are now available in 22 Indian languages, significantly expanding citizen engagement and linguistic inclusivity. The President also inaugurated multiple facilities for visitors and residents, including a Visitor Facilitation Centre at Rashtrapati Bhavan, Nilayam Nikunj at Rashtrapati Nilayam in Hyderabad, a cafeteria, souvenir shop and reception area at Rashtrapati Niwas in Mashobra, and a renovated gymnasium at the President’s Estate.

The second season of E-Upahaar was launched to auction over 250 items, with all proceeds earmarked for child welfare initiatives. The auction is hosted on . Additionally, an e-book compiling highlights from the past year of the Presidency was released, offering a curated glimpse into the institution’s evolving public interface.

President Murmu also announced the commencement of a Net Zero initiative for Rashtrapati Bhavan, targeting full carbon neutrality by March 2027. The sustainability roadmap includes energy-efficient retrofitting, renewable energy integration and waste management reforms.

In her remarks, the President expressed satisfaction over the increased citizen engagement with Rashtrapati Bhavan during her tenure. She emphasized the importance of connecting all sections of society—especially the underprivileged and backward classes—with the nation’s development journey. She noted with pride that Rashtrapati Bhavan had become more accessible to persons with disabilities and voiced confidence that further transformative initiatives would follow.

The comprehensive set of reforms and launches reflects a Presidency committed to inclusion, transparency and environmental responsibility, reinforcing Rashtrapati Bhavan’s role as a symbol of democratic accessibility and institutional innovation.
