Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched a series of development projects in Durgapur, West Bengal, reaffirming the region’s role in India’s industrial resurgence and long-term economic transformation. Addressing a large gathering, Modi emphasized that the initiatives are part of a broader national strategy to build a developed India by 2047, with Eastern India playing a pivotal role in that journey.
Modi stated that the projects will enhance efficiency, connectivity and employment across sectors, and that the government is committed to ensuring that every rupee invested translates into tangible benefits for citizens. He highlighted that Rs 1,500 crore worth of projects have been sanctioned for Durgapur alone, spanning infrastructure, housing, energy and industrial modernization.
The Prime Minister underscored that the development push is not limited to urban centers but extends to rural and semi-urban regions, ensuring inclusive growth. He reiterated that the government’s vision is to empower every citizen, especially the youth and women, through access to education, employment and entrepreneurship.
Modi also addressed the importance of efficient governance and transparency, noting that the projects launched in Durgapur are being monitored through real-time dashboards and citizen feedback mechanisms. He called upon local officials and stakeholders to maintain momentum and ensure timely completion.
The Prime Minister concluded by stating that the transformation underway in Durgapur is emblematic of the new India—confident, capable and committed to progress. He urged citizens to participate actively in the development process and assured that the government will continue to invest in Bengal’s future as a strategic growth engine for the nation.
