Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman is set to begin her official visit to the United States and Peru from April 20 to April 30, 2025. The visit emphasizes India’s growing role in global economic and financial dialogues, as the Finance Minister engages with top global institutions, industry leaders, and representatives to advance India’s economic vision and strengthen bilateral ties.

Starting in San Francisco on April 20, Nirmala Sitharaman will deliver a keynote address at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University, focusing on “Laying the Foundations of Viksit Bharat 2047.” This address will highlight India’s roadmap for achieving sustainable growth and self-reliance by 2047. The Finance Minister will also meet leading CEOs from fund management and information technology firms, fostering discussions on investment and innovation. Additionally, she will connect with members of the Indian diaspora, underlining their contributions to India’s growth story.

In Washington D.C., from April 22 to April 25, the Finance Minister will participate in the Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. This includes the second G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting, where she will contribute to discussions on pressing global challenges. Bilateral meetings with finance ministers and leaders from several countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, and Germany, will address cooperation on financial and development priorities.

For the final leg of her visit, Nirmala Sitharaman will lead an Indian delegation to Peru from April 26 to April 30, marking her first official visit to the South American nation. In Lima, she will chair the India-Peru Business Forum, engaging with business leaders from both nations to explore opportunities in sectors like mining and trade. Discussions will also focus on leveraging Peru’s resources to strengthen India’s supply chain linkages. Furthermore, she is scheduled to meet with the President and Prime Minister of Peru, fostering diplomatic ties and collaborative efforts.

This visit represents a significant stride in India’s foreign and economic policy, showcasing the nation’s commitment to fostering innovation, attracting investments, and building global partnerships.
