Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal has inaugurated the Mahila Aarogyam Kaksh, a wellness-focused facility dedicated to women employees of the Department of Legal Affairs, Ministry of Law and Justice. Situated within Shastri Bhawan, the facility reflects a shift toward institutionalizing fitness, inclusion and dignity in government workspaces.

Transformed from a disused garage, the newly developed area includes modern gym equipment and a private lactation room for nursing mothers. Designed to support physical fitness, mental health and work-life balance, it marks the Ministry’s first such effort to embed wellness within its daily functioning.

Addressing the gathering, Meghwal described the facility as a meaningful step under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Hum Fit Toh India Fit’ campaign. He emphasized that wellness in public service settings is vital to building a healthy and inclusive India, encouraging all employees to actively utilize the space.

Law Secretary Anju Rathi Rana highlighted the challenges women face while balancing professional and domestic roles. She said the initiative serves as a reminder that prioritizing personal well-being is central to empowerment and productivity. Rana reaffirmed the Department’s commitment to a workplace culture that values holistic wellness and emotional dignity.

The launch was attended by senior ministry officials and a large group of women staff. With facilities like the Mahila Aarogyam Kaksh now taking root, government offices are being reimagined not merely as administrative spaces but as environments that recognize and respond to the human needs of those who serve in them. The initiative supports the broader goals of the Fit India Movement and Viksit Bharat vision, placing women’s well-being at the core of organizational progress.
