The Indian Air Force successfully concluded its 47th Flight Test Course at the Aircraft and Systems Testing Establishment (ASTE), Bengaluru, with a ceremonial Suranjan Das Dinner, marking the graduation of officers who have undergone 48 weeks of rigorous training in flight testing. The program remains central to India’s efforts in advancing indigenous aerospace technologies, ensuring operational precision in cutting-edge aerial platforms.
Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal AP Singh presided over the event, presenting certificates and awards to the officers in recognition of their exceptional performance in the demanding course. He underscored the critical role of flight test professionals in shaping India’s self-reliance in defense aviation. Highlighting major ongoing development projects, he reaffirmed the Air Force’s commitment to the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft and Light Combat Aircraft MK-II programs, emphasizing that these initiatives will define the next phase of India’s aerospace capabilities.
During the ceremony, several officers received accolades for their outstanding contributions. Squadron Leader S Bhardwaj was honored with the Suranjan Das Trophy for best all-round student test pilot, while Squadron Leader Ajay Tripathi received the Chief of the Air Staff Trophy for excellence in flight evaluation. Squadron Leader Subhrajyoti Paul earned the Maharaja Hanumanth Singh Sword as the best all-round flight test engineer. Wing Commander Ashwini Singh was awarded the Dunlop Trophy for excellence in flight evaluation, and Major Kaustubh Kunte secured the Kapil Bhargava Trophy for best performance in ground subjects.
The Flight Test Course continues to serve as a cornerstone for India’s aerospace engineering and operational excellence, refining aviation testing methodologies and strengthening India’s capability to field advanced aerial systems with precision and reliability.
