Strategic Collaboration to Strengthen India’s AI Ecosystem

Mumbai, May 2, 2025 – The IndiaAI Mission, under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), has entered into a strategic partnership with Intel India to accelerate artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities and workforce development across the country. Announced on Friday, this collaboration underscores the commitment of both organizations to drive AI readiness, support the startup ecosystem, and enhance AI-led governance.

The partnership was formalized with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), aimed at empowering youth, professionals, startups, and public sector leaders with the skills and resources required to harness AI’s transformative potential. This initiative aligns with India’s broader vision of becoming a global leader in AI through responsible innovation and inclusive technological progress.

IndiaAI Mission’s Vision for AI Leadership

Speaking on the collaboration, Abhishek Singh, Additional Secretary, MeitY and CEO of IndiaAI Mission, highlighted IndiaAI’s objectives in fostering responsible AI development, enhancing public service efficiency, and ensuring broad accessibility to AI-driven solutions.

“The IndiaAI Mission is dedicated to establishing India as a key global player in AI by promoting innovation that is both inclusive and ethical,” Singh stated. “Through our partnership with Intel India, we are taking significant steps to strengthen AI education, governance, and industry applications.”

One of the key initiatives under this collaboration includes the creation of a data lab, designed to train young individuals in data science and AI. This effort is expected to build foundational AI skills among students and early-career professionals, equipping them with the expertise necessary to drive future AI innovations.

Core Programs Under the Intel India Partnership

The partnership will focus on implementing several targeted programs designed to facilitate AI learning and adoption:

  1. YuvaAI Empowers – This initiative is tailored for school students, offering early exposure to AI concepts and hands-on learning experiences to cultivate foundational knowledge in artificial intelligence.
  2. StartupAI – Designed to support AI-driven startups, this program will provide emerging businesses with access to technical resources, expert guidance, and funding opportunities to scale AI innovations effectively.
  3. IndiaAI Dialogues – A platform for policy practitioners and public sector leaders to engage in meaningful discussions about AI governance, regulation, and best practices for implementing AI in public administration.

Additionally, the partnership aims to enhance Bhashini, a pioneering initiative focused on AI-enabled language solutions, by scaling its reach to remote classrooms across India. This expansion is expected to bridge digital divides and ensure AI-driven educational access for underserved regions.

Intel India’s Commitment to AI Adoption and Innovation

Santhosh Viswanathan, Vice President and Managing Director of the India Region at Intel, emphasized the significance of this collaboration in building a future-ready AI ecosystem.

“This strategic alliance between Intel India and the IndiaAI Mission marks a critical milestone in fostering AI development across India,” Viswanathan said. “By equipping students, startups, and policymakers with cutting-edge AI skills, we aim to accelerate technological innovation, break down barriers, and contribute to meaningful societal impact.”

Intel India has previously supported AI education efforts through initiatives such as YuvaAI, which has trained thousands of students in basic AI concepts. The company now seeks to leverage its global technical expertise to enhance AI capacity-building efforts under the IndiaAI Mission.

Advancing AI for India’s Growth

The collaboration between IndiaAI Mission and Intel India reaffirms both organizations’ shared vision of positioning India at the forefront of AI-led transformation. Through targeted initiatives and accessible AI education, this partnership is set to drive technological innovation, strengthen governance, and prepare the nation’s workforce for the AI-driven future.
