India showcased its growing influence in the digital innovation and skilling sectors at GITEX Africa 2025, Africa’s largest tech and startup event. Held in Marrakesh, Morocco, the three-day summit provided a platform for policymakers, innovators, and visionaries to explore opportunities for collaboration and inclusive economic growth. Representing India at the event was Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Education, Jayant Chaudhary, who participated in bilateral meetings, panel discussions, and engagements with Indian startups demonstrating cutting-edge solutions.
During the summit, Jayant Chaudhary highlighted India’s transformative achievements in developing Digital Public Infrastructure. Key innovations such as Aadhaar, UPI, ONDC, and healthcare advancements were presented as examples of India’s ability to scale inclusive technology-driven solutions. He emphasized India’s growing integration of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, fintech, and digital platforms into its skilling ecosystem, citing the Skill India Digital Hub as a noteworthy success. This platform has already onboarded over 10 million users within one and a half years, creating new avenues for skill development and employment.
Speaking to leaders and entrepreneurs from across Africa, Chaudhary acknowledged the shared potential for growth between India and its African partners. He stressed that India’s robust digital frameworks, including open-source systems, could accelerate digitalization efforts in other developing economies. He further noted India’s status as a global hub for AI talent, with a reported 33.39 percent year-over-year growth in AI-related hiring, reflecting the government’s commitment to fostering technological adoption.
On the sidelines of the summit, Chaudhary engaged in high-level bilateral discussions with senior Moroccan ministers, including Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, Minister of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform; Azzedine El Midaoui, Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation; Younes Sekkouri, Minister of Economic Inclusion and Employment; and Mohammed Saad Berrada, Minister of National Education, Preschool, and Sports. These meetings focused on deepening collaboration in artificial intelligence, advancing research capabilities, and utilizing digital infrastructure as a catalyst for equitable growth. Chaudhary shared India’s successful experiences in building scalable technologies designed for public good, highlighting their adaptability to meet diverse socioeconomic needs.
India’s participation at GITEX Africa 2025 reinforced its leadership in promoting technology-driven inclusivity. Initiatives such as Digital India, Skill India, Aadhaar, DigiLocker, and DIKSHA serve as testaments to the country’s ability to empower citizens through scalable infrastructure and accessible solutions.
