The South Regional Summit on Ayush Medical Value Travel in Chennai reinforced India’s commitment to positioning itself as a global wellness hub, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for integrative healthcare and holistic healing. With over 1,600 Ayush visas issued to citizens from more than 75 countries, India is emerging as a trusted destination for evidence-based traditional health solutions, blending Ayurveda, Siddha, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Sowa Rigpa, and Homeopathy with modern medical standards.
Union Minister of State for Ayush Prataprao Jadhav, addressing the summit, emphasized India’s expanding influence in medical value travel, urging states to develop culturally-rooted wellness models with global applicability. He highlighted the post-pandemic surge in demand for safe, sustainable, and scientifically-backed traditional medicine, positioning India as a leader in integrative healthcare.
Minister of Health, Family Welfare, and Medical Education of Andhra Pradesh Satya Kumar Yadav underscored the transformative potential of Ayush-driven health tourism, stating that Southern India’s rich heritage in holistic care, particularly Panchakarma in Kerala and Siddha in Tamil Nadu, provides the foundation for expanding India’s global health presence.
Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush Monalisa Dash emphasized that Ayush-based medical value travel is a key pillar of India’s healthcare expansion strategy, focusing on quality assurance, clinical standardization, and digital integration to streamline international patient access to traditional healing practices.
The summit facilitated collaboration between state governments, industry leaders, and healthcare providers, aiming to attract international patients and strengthen India’s wellness infrastructure. Representatives from Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry outlined state-led initiatives that bolster Ayush tourism, enhance healthcare delivery, and promote wellness retreats.
With 325 delegates in attendance, including leaders from Ayush healthcare centers, colleges, research institutes, health tech startups, medical tourism professionals, spas, and wellness resorts, the event showcased India’s growing influence in global wellness travel. Industry participants from Kairali Ayurvedic Group, Dr. JRK’s Pharmaceuticals, Apollo AyurVAID Hospitals, Arya Vaidya Pharmacy, SKM Siddha & Ayurveda, Niraamaya Retreats, and Meitra & Viia highlighted the collaborative momentum required to strengthen India’s footprint in traditional healing tourism.
The summit concluded with a call to action for ensuring quality, safety, and patient satisfaction, reaffirming India’s commitment to making Ayush-based medical healthcare globally accessible. The gathering underscored India’s ability to blend ancient healing wisdom with modern healthcare innovation, solidifying its position as a premier destination for wellness-focused travel.
