The summit, held from May 23 to May 24, was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, underscoring the government’s strategic vision for economic revival and global partnerships in the region.
Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region Jyotiraditya Scindia, in his valedictory address, highlighted the unprecedented scale of global interest, with delegations from over 80 countries participating. He emphasized that India’s future lies in the Northeast, attributing the surge in investment to the whole-of-government approach under Modi’s leadership.
Major corporate commitments underscored the summit’s success. Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani announced a 750 billion rupee investment in agriculture, telecommunications, digital services, and local enterprise development over five years. Adani Group Chairperson Gautam Adani pledged 500 billion rupees for infrastructure expansion over the next decade, while Vedanta Group Chairman Anil Agarwal committed 300 billion rupees to resource development in the region.
The Ministry of DoNER has established eight high-level task forces spanning agriculture, sports, investment promotion, tourism, economic corridors, infrastructure, textiles and handicrafts, and animal husbandry, ensuring tailored development strategies for each state. Over the past year, the ministry has facilitated nine domestic roadshows, six state roundtables, two ambassador meets, and multiple sector-specific engagements, fostering sustained investor interest.

Aviation expansion saw the number of airports doubling from 9 to 17 in a decade.
The summit also emphasized the Northeast’s cultural and natural strengths, leveraging tourism, sports, and music industries. Over the past decade, 21 billion rupees have been invested in education, leading to the establishment of over 800 schools, nine medical colleges, two IIITs, and the region’s first AIIMS. Modi called on industries to tap into the Northeast’s emerging talent pool, reinforcing its role as India’s gateway to Southeast Asia.
