India Launches Its Most Powerful Quantum Computer on World Quantum Day

Bengaluru-based QpiAI has achieved a major milestone with the launch of QpiAI-Indus, one of India’s most powerful quantum computers featuring 25 superconducting qubits. Announced on the occasion of World Quantum Day, the development marks a transformative step forward in the nation’s quantum computing capabilities. QpiAI is one of the eight startups selected under the National Quantum Mission coordinated by the Department of Science and Technology. This launch establishes India’s first full-stack quantum computing system, integrating advanced quantum hardware, scalable control mechanisms, and optimized software for hybrid computing.

The QpiAI-Indus system incorporates cutting-edge quantum processors, next-generation quantum-HPC software platforms, and AI-enhanced quantum solutions. It is positioned to drive innovation in diverse domains such as life sciences, drug discovery, materials sciences, mobility, logistics, sustainability, and climate action. The company’s commitment to India’s quantum computing journey is highlighted by its participation in national quantum adoption programs and efforts to build one of the world’s largest ecosystems for quantum talent.

Bootstrapped in 2019, QpiAI has made significant achievements in quantum technologies, filing 11 patent applications and generating revenue of approximately 1 million rupees annually. It has also attracted substantial capital investment from the Small Industries Development Bank of India. The launch on World Quantum Day underscores a shared vision for a future transformed by quantum-enabled advancements, both within India and globally.

Through the introduction of the QpiAI-Indus, the startup joins an international community of scientists, engineers, and policymakers, pushing the boundaries of quantum science and technology.
