0

The Department of Posts has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with MapmyIndia to advance the DIGIPIN initiative, a transformative step toward creating a standardized digital addressing system across India. The partnership aims to integrate MapmyIndia’s geospatial technology into the Department’s Know Your DIGIPIN application, enabling precise location-based address generation and navigation.

Under the agreement, MapmyIndia will provide base maps and facilitate the allocation of DIGIPINs to existing addresses in its database. This integration will allow users to search for and navigate to locations using DIGIPIN through the Mappls app, enhancing accessibility and accuracy for citizens, businesses, and government agencies.

Harpreet Singh, Member (Operations), Department of Posts, stated that the collaboration will significantly expand DIGIPIN’s reach and strengthen India’s digital infrastructure for efficient service delivery. Rakesh Verma, Co-founder and CMD of MapmyIndia, emphasized that the partnership will empower billions of Indians by enabling seamless access to services built around DIGIPIN.

The initiative supports the broader framework of Address as a Service (AaaS), allowing developers and enterprises to incorporate DIGIPIN into their platforms. By fostering a robust ecosystem of location-based services, the Department of Posts aims to streamline service delivery and promote innovation in digital governance.

This strategic move marks a major milestone in India’s journey toward indigenous digital infrastructure, aligning with national goals of self-reliance and technological advancement.
