India hosted a Virtual Capacity Building Session on Digital Transformation in BRICS, organized by the Department of Telecommunications through the National Communications Academy – Technology (NCA-T), Ghaziabad. Convened under the BRICS ICT Working Group, the event facilitated discussions on mobile security, cyber resilience, digital infrastructure, and digital twin technology, fostering deeper cooperation among BRICS nations.
The session was inaugurated by BRICS Chair Daniel Cavalcanti and Atul Sinha, Director General of NCA-T, India, who emphasized the importance of regional collaboration in co-developing secure, scalable digital solutions. India showcased its Sanchar Saathi initiative, highlighting its role in protecting mobile users from fraud and enhancing transparency. The discussion on cyber resilience, jointly led by India and Brazil, focused on preparedness, rapid response, and cross-border cooperation to counter cyber threats.
India presented AADHAAR as a foundational model for Digital Public Infrastructure, demonstrating its impact on public service delivery through identity-driven digital inclusion. China contributed insights on its digital infrastructure evolution, fostering knowledge-sharing on large-scale ICT deployment.
India introduced the Sangam Digital Twin initiative, an AI-powered platform aimed at real-time governance solutions and scenario-based infrastructure planning. China shared its approach to Digital Twin applications, reinforcing the transformative potential of predictive simulations and data-driven policymaking.
In closing, Avinash Agarwal, Deputy Director General, International Relations Division, DoT, India, and BRICS Chair Daniel Cavalcanti reaffirmed BRICS nations’ commitment to collaborative digital development, ensuring future-ready, inclusive technology ecosystems. The session provided a platform for exchanging successful national initiatives, identifying scalable solutions, and strengthening regional alliances for digital transformation.
