Mumbai: The National Test House (NTH), a pioneer government organization which operates under the Department of Consumer Affairs, is a distinguished scientific institution in India, founded in 1912 in Kolkata. Throughout the years, it has transformed into a national center for Testing, Calibration, and Quality Assurance of industrial and consumer products (excluding drugs, arms, and ammunition) in accordance with national and international standards.

NTH is headquartered in Kolkata and has six regional laboratories situated in Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Ghaziabad, Jaipur, and Guwahati, in addition to a satellite center currently being developed in Bangalore and another in Varanasi.
About NTH (Western Region), Mumbai:
Established in 1963, the National Test House (Western Region), located in Andheri (East), Mumbai, is a multidisciplinary scientific and testing institution accredited by NABL and recognized by BIS. It serves the states of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and surrounding areas, playing a crucial role in ensuring product quality, safety, and regulatory compliance across various sectors.

The strength of NTH is attributed to its specialized and experienced scientists and engineers, who come from a variety of fields in science and technology and are situated in different laboratories throughout the country. These scientists are backed by qualified and highly skilled technicians, laboratory supervisors, workshop operators, and support staff.
NTH technologists are involved in approximately 150 forums established by the Bureau of Indian Standards for the development of national standards.
A group of scientists has been trained and certified as assessors by the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL), conducting assessments of laboratories to support NABL.
In the revenue point of view the NT Mumbai generated revenue of Rs. 581 Lakhs as against the Y-o-Y 419.2 lakhs. For the current financial year the team is poised to surpass all time high revenue.
