Bank of India Marks 121st Foundation Day, Reaffirms Commitment to Viksit Bharat
Mumbai, September 7, 2026: Bank of India (BOI) marked its 121st Foundation Day on September 7, celebrating more than 12 decades of service, trust and contribution to India’s economic development. Foundation Day celebrations were organised across the Bank’s nationwide network, bringing together employees, customers, former employees, pensioners and other stakeholders.

Established on September 7, 1906, with a single branch and a small team, Bank of India has grown into a leading public sector bank with a significant domestic and international presence. The Bank now has approximately 37,000 customer touchpoints and more than 52,000 employees, serving customers in major urban centres as well as remote villages across the country.
Global business crosses ₹17.50 lakh crore
Bank of India has also registered significant business growth in recent years. During Q1 FY27, the Bank’s Total Global Business crossed ₹17.50 lakh crore. In FY26, the lender crossed the ₹10,000 crore annual net profit milestone, underlining its expanding business scale and focus on sustainable growth.
Speaking on the occasion, Rajneesh Karnatak, Managing Director & CEO, Bank of India, said the Foundation Day was an opportunity to celebrate the institution’s legacy while preparing for its next phase of growth.
“As we celebrate our 121st Foundation Day, we also celebrate the legacy of an institution that has always been an integral part of India’s growth story. Together, we are writing the next chapter of Bank of India’s journey, rooted in trust, strengthened by our people, powered by technology and aligned with the aspirations of a Viksit Bharat.”
Karnatak reiterated the Bank’s focus on customer-centric banking, integrity and excellence. He also expressed gratitude to generations of customers, employees, former employees, vendors and channel partners for their contribution to the institution’s journey.
The MD & CEO also acknowledged the continued guidance of the Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, Government of India, and the banking regulators, while reaffirming the Bank’s commitment to its promise of “Relationship Beyond Banking” – “रिश्तों की जमापूंजी”.
Celebrations at Head Office
The Foundation Day programme at Bank of India’s Head Office commenced with a Ganesh Puja led by the MD & CEO and was attended by the Bank’s Executive Director, Chief General Managers, General Managers and employees.
The Bank unveiled its 121st Foundation Day logo and launched a new corporate audiovisual film showcasing its institutional journey, achievements and future aspirations. The MD & CEO’s Foundation Day message was also released during the programme.
The celebrations featured a balloon release, cake-cutting ceremony and distribution of chocolates among employees.
Community initiatives across India
Foundation Day celebrations extended beyond the Bank’s offices, with branches and administrative units undertaking several social and community-focused initiatives.
These included tree plantation drives, blood donation camps and health check-up programmes, along with customer engagement activities. Several branches also felicitated valued customers, retired employees, pensioners and senior citizens.
Bank premises across the country were decorated and illuminated to mark the occasion, while sweets were distributed among customers and employees.
The 121st Foundation Day celebrations highlighted Bank of India’s continuing focus on customer relationships, financial inclusion, technology-led banking and community engagement, while reaffirming its commitment to playing a meaningful role in India’s journey towards a Viksit Bharat.
