India Post Expands 24 Speed Post Network Beyond Metro Cities, Adds 27 New Lanes in Maharashtra

Mumbai: The Department of Posts, Maharashtra Circle, is expanding its premium 24 Speed Post service beyond the existing metro-to-metro network, introducing 27 new service lanes—25 for documents and two for parcels—to provide faster, time-bound delivery across key destinations.

India Post Expands 24 Speed Post with 27 New Lanes in Maharashtra.

The expansion is aimed at meeting the growing demand for reliable and time-sensitive postal services among retail customers, businesses and bulk mailers. The enhanced network covers important destinations connected with Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, Nagpur and Ahmedabad, along with selected routes to major metropolitan cities.

Currently, 24 Speed Post connects six major cities—Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kolkata. In Mumbai, 29 designated post offices accept bookings for the existing metro-to-metro service, while inward articles are delivered across the city.

The latest expansion extends the service to additional destinations and delivery PIN codes, offering customers more options for sending urgent documents and parcels.

25 New Document Lanes

The 25 new document lanes comprise six outbound lanes from Mumbai, 10 outbound lanes from Thane and Navi Mumbai, and nine inbound lanes connecting various cities with Maharashtra’s key urban centres.

Mumbai outbound network: Six lanes connect Mumbai with the National Capital Region (NCR), Thane and Navi Mumbai, Nashik, Pune, Nagpur and Ahmedabad. Bookings are available through 28 designated post offices for each lane.

Thane and Navi Mumbai outbound network: Ten lanes connect the twin-city region with Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Delhi, Nashik, Pune, Nagpur and Ahmedabad. Customers can book articles through 12 designated post offices for each lane.

Inbound network: Nine lanes cover NCR to Mumbai, Ahmedabad to Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Ahmedabad to Thane and Navi Mumbai, and Chennai to Pune.

These routes are expected to improve access to time-bound postal delivery for customers in business districts, residential areas and emerging commercial centres.

Two New Parcel Lanes

The expansion also introduces two parcel lanes on the Mumbai–Pune and Mumbai–Ahmedabad routes. Bookings are accepted at 29 post offices in Mumbai, while delivery is facilitated through 38 delivery offices in Pune and five in Ahmedabad.

Both routes also handle document consignments, providing customers with additional options for time-sensitive shipments.

Key Booking and Delivery Centres

Prominent booking centres include Vile Parle Business Post Centre (BPC), Vashi BPC, Dadar BPC, Mumbai GPO BPC and Jacob Circle Post Office.

Important delivery offices in Mumbai include Kandivali West (PIN 400067), Malad East (PIN 400097), Kandivali East (PIN 400101), Sakinaka (PIN 400072) and Azad Nagar (PIN 400053).

The Maharashtra Circle has also identified an extensive network of booking and delivery offices across Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai. Key booking locations include Mumbai GPO, Dadar Head Office, Chembur Head Office, Thane Head Office, Vashi MDG and Konkan Bhavan.

In other cities, the delivery network includes Nashik Head Office and Nashik Road Head Office; Pune Head Office, Shivajinagar and Deccan Gymkhana; and Nagpur GPO, Nagpur City Head Office and other designated offices.

Greater Convenience for Businesses and Individuals

The expanded 24 Speed Post network is intended to strengthen India Post’s position in the time-sensitive delivery segment by extending premium postal connectivity to more destinations beyond the six existing metro cities.

The additional lanes are particularly relevant for businesses, corporate offices, financial institutions, commercial establishments and individuals who depend on the timely movement of documents and parcels.

Retail and bulk customers can avail themselves of the service at designated booking offices. Customers are advised to contact their nearest post office to confirm the availability of a particular route, its booking arrangements and the applicable service conditions.

With the addition of 27 lanes, the Maharashtra Circle is extending the reach of premium postal services and improving access to time-bound delivery across a wider network of urban and commercial destinations.
