MIT-WPU Law Network Forum Organised at Mumbai Press Club

Mumbai: The MIT World Peace University (MIT-WPU) Law Network Forum was successfully organised on 31st January 2026 at the Mumbai Press Club, bringing together legal professionals, academicians, students, and media representatives for a thought-provoking dialogue on contemporary legal and policy issues.

The forum was inaugurated by Dr. Santosh Aghav, Dean School of Law MIT WPU highlighted the strengths of the University and the specific activates carried out by the School of Law, for the larger gamut of the law fraternity. This platform served and foster meaningful discussions on emerging trends in law, governance, and the justice delivery system. Legal experts and distinguished speakers shared their insights on the evolving legal landscape in India, the role of technology in the judiciary, and the importance of legal education in shaping socially responsible professionals.

In his opening remarks, a representative from MIT-WPU highlighted the university’s commitment to bridging the gap between academia and real-world legal practice. He emphasised that platforms like the Law Network Forum play a crucial role in encouraging critical thinking, debate, and collaboration among future legal professionals.
The event featured panel discussions on topics, bridging the gap between legal education and professional skills such as digital transformation in law, access to justice, and the challenges faced by young lawyers in today’s competitive environment. Speakers underscored the need for ethical practice, continuous learning, and adaptability in the legal profession. The session was moderated by Dr. Santosh Aghav, Vaidehi Sooryavanshi, and Bhakti Tithe. Speaker Adv. Shilpa Sharma, Founder, Counsel & Council Speaker spoke about on the current trends and the necessity for the students to go for regirious six months internship to understand the various Nitti girty of the law. Adv. Chirag Naik Partner, MZM Legal too emphasized on the necessity to get fully involved in the subject matter and present the case in the flawless manner. Adv. Burzin Somandy, Managing Partner, Somandy & Associates also pointed the current fast life and the students interest to carry forward the key phinomina of the fast chaning law and the clear understanding. Adv. Rashmi Deshpande, Founder and Managing Partner, Fountain Head Legal pointed various key areas of law and how to mitigate them for a smooth conclusion.
Some students and media persons actively participated in the discussions, posing insightful questions and engaging with experts. The interactive nature of the forum provided them with valuable exposure to practical legal perspectives beyond classroom learning.

Second session was on the topic Use of AI in Legal Education and Legal Professional Skills: Promises and Challenges. The session was moderates by Dr. Pournima Inamdar, Shobana Anand, and Vikas Waghmare. The speakers were Adv. Sudhir Wakure, Executive VP, Legal and Liaison, Shapoorji Palloonji Co., Adv. Puneet Bhasin, Internationally Recognized Cyber law & Privacy / Data Protection Expert and a Pioneer in Cyber Laws. Adv. Atul Juvle, Managing Partner, Ape Legal and Adv. Khushnuma Khan, Solicitor, AOR Supreme Court of India.
The session of AI was quite interesting on the various fundamentals of the right use of AI for the quality output of the case.
The last of the session was the open discussion moderated by Prof. Aayush Mishra, Prof. Shubhi Trivedi. Most of the delegates pointed the need and urgency for the students to invest time and through understanding of the case by merely attending various court rooms across places to correctly understand the procedures for filing a suit to drafting a case paper. This approach is currently lacking in most of the students the same has been drawn the attention of the College authorities to inculcate in the curriculum.

The Mumbai Press Club, known for hosting intellectual and policy-driven dialogues, provided an apt setting for the event. The forum concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the contributions of all speakers, participants, and organisers.
