Central Bank of India marked its 115th Foundation Day in Mumbai with a series of commemorative events. Shri M. Nagaraju, IAS, Secretary, Department of Financial Services (DFS), Ministry of Finance, Government of India, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Nagaraju described it as a privilege to be part of the celebrations of India’s first Swadeshi Bank. He lauded the Bank’s pivotal role in strengthening the nation’s banking ecosystem and driving inclusive economic growth. Commending its customer-centric approach and expansion of financial access, he quoted Sir Sorabji Pochkhanawala:

He noted that the Bank has been an integral part of India’s growth story, with a 72% RAM share in advances, reflecting its strong commitment to serving the common man, alongside improved business performance and profitability.

Earlier, welcoming the Chief Guest in the presence of elite customers and senior banking executives, Shri Kalyan Kumar, Managing Director & CEO, Central Bank of India, highlighted Shri Nagaraju’s distinguished career spanning over three decades across State, National, and International platforms. He acknowledged Shri Nagaraju’s significant contribution, as Secretary (DFS), in strengthening India’s banking, insurance, and financial inclusion framework, and expressed pride in his presence at this landmark celebration.

Shri Kalyan Kumar also underscored the Bank’s extensive pan-India footprint of 21,492 touchpoints, including 4,556 branches, with 65.14% located in rural and semi-urban areas. As on the 30th, the Bank’s total business stood at ₹7,37,938 crore, with CASA deposits at 46.83%.

Highlighting the Foundation Day week initiatives, he spoke about the Bank’s focus on social responsibility and sustainability through programmes such as Stay Fit – Stay Healthy, Grow a Plant – Save the Planet, Swachh Bharat – Swasth Bharat, Sewa Hi Sankalp, and Cent Intellica. As part of these efforts, over 25,000 saplings were planted nationwide.

On the occasion, the Bank launched several customer-friendly products, including a Handbook on Customer Service & Grievance Handling, formally released by Shri M. Nagaraju.

Shri M. V. Murali Krishna, Executive Director, Central Bank of India, proposed the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the Chief Guest and all distinguished attendees for making the 115th Foundation Day celebrations memorable.
