Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal launched the curtain raiser for Bharat Buildcon 2026 in New Delhi, positioning the event as a strategic milestone in India’s global construction ambitions. Addressing industry leaders, Goyal emphasized the government’s commitment to shielding Indian industry from stress caused by unilateral actions by foreign nations, including rising tariffs.
He urged businesses to identify sectors needing alternate markets, assuring that the Commerce Ministry is actively engaging global partners to unlock new opportunities. The Minister also highlighted the upcoming GST Council meeting, expected to introduce measures that will stimulate domestic demand and boost manufacturing.
Goyal expressed confidence that India’s exports this year will surpass last year’s figures, citing the resilience of Indian industry and the strength of its startups. He reiterated Prime Minister Modi’s call for “Zero Defect, Zero Effect” manufacturing and “Daam Kam, Dum Zyaada” products—affordable yet powerful.
The Minister criticized analysts and media who underestimate India’s capabilities, asserting that the country has overcome challenges like COVID-19 and nuclear sanctions to emerge stronger. He spotlighted Australia’s acute housing shortage—nearly 1 million homes—and invited Indian businesses to seize the opportunity for collaboration, calling it a game-changer for construction and financial sectors.
Goyal also noted India’s expanding network of Free Trade Agreements with countries including Australia, UAE, Switzerland, Norway, Liechtenstein, Iceland, and the UK, with ongoing negotiations with the EU and others. These partnerships are expected to boost exports and support India’s clean energy and manufacturing goals.
Scheduled from April 29 to May 2, 2026, at Yashobhoomi Convention Centre in New Delhi, Bharat Buildcon 2026 will showcase India’s capabilities across 37 allied sectors including cement, ceramics, tiles, sanitaryware, paints, hardware, and electricals. With India’s building and construction market valued at over USD 1 trillion, the event aims to promote Indian products globally, attract investments, and position India as a trusted supplier.
Goyal concluded by urging organizers to expand the event beyond the capital, involve international stakeholders, and ensure wide participation from allied sectors. He emphasized that Bharat Buildcon 2026 will reflect India’s strength, innovation, and competitiveness as the nation marches toward Viksit Bharat 2047.
