India Post, Maharashtra Circle Marks World Meditation Day

Mumbai: The Department of Posts, Maharashtra Circle, observed World Meditation Day at the Mumbai General Post Office (GPO) on Saturday, in collaboration with the World Pranic Healing Foundation and the Yoga Vidya Pranic Healing Foundation of Maharashtra.

World Meditation Day is observed annually on December 21, following its proclamation by the United Nations General Assembly, to create awareness about meditation and its far-reaching benefits. The United Nations has acknowledged meditation as a powerful tool for fostering global peace, harmony, and mental wellbeing.

The Department of Posts, Maharashtra Circle celebrated World Meditation Day today at Mumbai General Post Office (GPO) .

The main programme was organised at Mumbai GPO and was simultaneously conducted across 88 locations in Maharashtra and Goa through live streaming on YouTube, enabling participation from across India and overseas. Around 3,000 employees of the Department of Posts took part in the event, both in person and online.

As part of the celebrations, Amitabh Singh, Chief Postmaster General, Maharashtra Circle, released a Special Cover with Special Cancellation dedicated to World Meditation Day. The event was attended by Dr. Mukesh Batra, Founder of Dr. Batra’s Group of Companies; Chetan Sonpal, Trustee, Yoga Vidya Pranic Healing Foundation of Maharashtra; and Rekha Rizvi, Director, Mumbai GPO.

The programme featured a session on Pranic Yoga, an energy-based healing system founded by Grandmaster Choa Kok Sui, which combines traditional yogic practices with Pranic Healing. The session highlighted the growing relevance of meditation in everyday life, particularly in today’s fast-paced world.

The guided online meditation session was conducted by Sumi Lazar Dhar, Pranic Healing Instructor and Healer, and Trustee of the World Pranic Healing Foundation, India, who also addressed the participants.

The celebration underscored the importance of meditation in achieving holistic wellbeing. Participants reported experiencing enhanced mental peace and emotional balance following the session.
