Union Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for nine National Highway projects spanning 88 kilometres in Karnataka, amounting to over ₹24 billion in investment. The event was held in Sagara Town, Shivamogga, in the presence of Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa, Members of Parliament, legislators, and senior officials.
The newly inaugurated Sharavathi Bridge is set to enhance connectivity between the Malnad and coastal regions while providing easier access to pilgrimage centres such as Sigandur Chowdeshwari and Kollur Mookambika temples. The 47-kilometre-long widening of the Bidar–Humnabad section of NH-367 will significantly reduce travel time between Bidar and Kalaburagi districts.
Restoration work along the Shiradi Ghat stretch of NH-75 will ensure safe and uninterrupted travel during the monsoon season across the vital Mangaluru–Bengaluru corridor. Additional upgrades include a Road Over Bridge at Shahabad and a Kagina River bridge on NH-50, facilitating seamless connectivity between Kalaburagi and Raichur.
Safety improvements are also underway along the Bengaluru–Mysuru Access-Controlled Expressway, promoting faster and more efficient travel between Karnataka and Kerala. The enhancements are expected to reduce travel time and fuel consumption while bolstering road safety across state boundaries.
