MRVC Conducts Vendor Awareness Programme on TReDS to Strengthen MSME Financing

Mumbai, July 30: Reinforcing its commitment to supporting Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through digital financial solutions, the Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation (MRVC) organized a Vendor Awareness Programme on the Trade Receivables Discounting System (TReDS) as part of the Ministry of Finance’s initiative to strengthen the MSME ecosystem.

MRVC Organises TReDS Vendor Awareness Programme to Boost MSME Digital Financing.

The programme focused on educating vendors about the TReDS platform, including the registration process, invoice discounting mechanism, and the benefits of receiving early payments through banks and financial institutions. MRVC officials explained how the platform enhances cash flow, promotes transparency in financial transactions, and enables vendors to access working capital more efficiently.

An interactive question-and-answer session was also held, allowing vendors to seek clarification on digital onboarding, invoice financing procedures, and compliance requirements. The session provided participants with practical insights into the platform’s operational framework and the advantages available to eligible MSMEs.

MRVC urged all eligible vendors to register on the TReDS platform and take advantage of the digital financing ecosystem to receive faster and more efficient payments. The Corporation reiterated its commitment to promoting transparent, technology-driven, and vendor-friendly procurement practices that support the growth and financial resilience of its business partners.

What is TReDS?

The Trade Receivables Discounting System (TReDS) is an electronic platform regulated by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) that facilitates the financing of trade receivables of MSMEs. It enables MSMEs to receive payments against approved invoices from buyers at competitive rates through banks and financial institutions, thereby improving liquidity and reducing payment cycles.

With increasing emphasis on digital financial inclusion and timely payments, initiatives such as TReDS are expected to play a significant role in strengthening India’s MSME sector, which contributes substantially to employment, manufacturing, and economic growth.
