PM Modi to Launch 100-Week ‘Nasha Mukta Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyaan’ on August 2

Forever News

New Delhi, July 29: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the nationwide “Nasha Mukta Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyaan” on August 2, 2026, marking the beginning of a 100-week nationwide campaign aimed at mobilising youth against substance abuse and promoting a drug-free India as part of the vision for Viksit Bharat 2047.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the 100-week Nasha Mukta Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyaan on August 2, with over one crore youth expected to take the anti-drug pledge.

The initiative seeks to transform the fight against drug addiction into a mass public movement driven by Jan Bhagidari (people’s participation), with youth taking the lead in spreading awareness and encouraging healthier lifestyles across the country.

One of the campaign’s biggest highlights will be the simultaneous administration of the Nasha Mukti Pledge at nearly 10,000 locations nationwide, where more than one crore young people are expected to participate and pledge their commitment to building a drug-free society. Participants will also dedicate themselves as Nasha Mukta Yuva Volunteers, supporting awareness and community engagement activities.

The campaign will be spearheaded by MY Bharat and will involve extensive participation from National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers, youth clubs, schools, colleges, universities, non-governmental organisations, industry associations, and more than 125 spiritual organisations, making it one of India’s largest youth-led social movements against substance abuse.

Unlike conventional awareness drives, the initiative has been designed as a 100-week sustained public campaign, with activities scheduled every Sunday across the country. The objective is to keep the message alive through continuous engagement rather than a one-time event.

The weekly programmes will feature a wide range of community-based activities, including sports competitions, walkathons, yoga and meditation sessions, cultural programmes, street plays (nukkad nataks), art and creative competitions, and public awareness campaigns. These events are intended to educate people about the harmful effects of drug abuse while encouraging positive social values, healthy living and active community participation.

To recognise outstanding contributions, volunteers and organisations demonstrating exceptional commitment to the campaign will be honoured at the 50th, 75th and 100th week milestones, encouraging sustained participation and community leadership.

Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya has appealed to young people, educational institutions and social organisations across the country to actively participate in the campaign and strengthen the nationwide movement against substance abuse.

The campaign reflects the government’s vision of empowering India’s youth to become agents of social change. With the message that “Drug-free youth are the greatest strength of Viksit Bharat,” the initiative aims to reach every village, town and city, creating greater awareness and fostering collective responsibility in building a healthier, stronger and more developed India.

As India advances towards its long-term development goals under Viksit Bharat 2047, the campaign seeks to reinforce the importance of a healthy, responsible and empowered younger generation in shaping the nation’s future.
