The Centre’s eShram portal has recorded registration of over 309.5 million unorganised workers as of July 22, 2025, according to information presented in the Lok Sabha. The portal, launched by the Ministry of Labour and Employment on August 26, 2021, aims to create a comprehensive National Database of Unorganised Workers seeded with Aadhaar, facilitating access to social welfare schemes.

Minister of State for Labour and Employment Shobha Karandlaje stated that the eShram portal provides a Universal Account Number to workers on a self-declaration basis. It functions as a one-stop solution integrating various social security schemes, enabling registered workers to view and avail benefits through a single digital platform.

Currently, 14 schemes from different Central Ministries and Departments are integrated with eShram. These include Pradhan Mantri Street Vendors Atmanirbhar Nidhi, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, National Family Benefit Scheme, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin and Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana.

Additional schemes linked to the portal are Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban, Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maan Dhan Yojana, One Nation One Ration Card and Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandna Yojana.

The portal also interfaces with Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-dhan, National Career Service, Skill India Digital Hub, Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance, Digital Locker, myScheme and the Open Government Data Platform, enhancing its utility and reach among unorganised workers across the country.
