The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence has seized over 4 kg of cocaine valued at approximately Rs 400 million from an Indian male passenger at Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru. Acting on specific intelligence, officers from the DRI Bengaluru Zonal Unit intercepted the individual who had arrived from Doha in the early hours of 18 July 2025.
Upon detailed examination of the passenger’s baggage, officials discovered two superhero comics or magazines that appeared unusually heavy. A meticulous inspection revealed white powder concealed within the coverside of the magazines. Field testing confirmed the substance to be cocaine.
The total quantity recovered weighed 4,006 grams and was seized under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985. The passenger was arrested under the same Act and remanded to judicial custody on 18 July 2025.
The operation underscores the DRI’s continued vigilance and operational precision in intercepting narcotics trafficking through unconventional concealment methods.
