Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the distribution of over 51,000 government appointment letters under the Rozgar Mela, reiterating his administration’s unwavering commitment to providing permanent, corruption-free public employment opportunities. He underscored that lakhs of youth have already been inducted into the workforce across departments such as railways, health, industry, finance and rural outreach, each contributing to citizen-centric nation building.
He emphasised that Bharat’s strengths lie in its twin pillars of demography and democracy, and that the youth are the greatest asset in shaping a prosperous future. Recalling his recent visits to five countries, the Prime Minister stated that Bharat’s youth and economic progress were widely recognised, and that international agreements in defence, digital, pharma, energy and rare earth sectors will generate substantial opportunities for Bharat’s workforce.
Highlighting evolving global employment trends, Modi said the Indian government has modernised policies and launched a startup-innovation-research ecosystem tailored to 21st-century needs. He praised young entrepreneurs who are driving new ventures and reaffirmed the government’s support through initiatives like the Employment Linked Incentive Scheme. Under this programme, Rs 15,000 will be provided by the government as a contribution to the first salary of a youth entering private sector employment, backed by Rs 1 trillion budget and aimed at creating 35 million new jobs.
The Prime Minister spotlighted record-breaking growth in manufacturing, citing Mission Manufacturing and the Make in India programme. He said over 1.1 million jobs have been created through the Production Linked Incentive Scheme. Bharat’s electronics manufacturing has surged to Rs 11 trillion, up fivefold in 11 years, with nearly 300 mobile manufacturing units now operating across the country. Defence production has surpassed Rs 1.25 trillion, and Bharat has become the world’s largest locomotive manufacturer. The automobile sector has attracted USD 40 billion in FDI over five years and set records in domestic vehicle sales. These milestones, he said, have been made possible by the hard work of Bharat’s youth.
Modi cited the recent International Labour Organization report that confirmed 900 million citizens have been covered under welfare schemes in the past decade, catalysing job creation. Schemes like PM Awas Yojana, Ujjwala Yojana and toilet construction have created lakhs of jobs for masons, plumbers, suppliers and workers, especially in rural areas.
He explained that rooftop solar initiatives under PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana offer dual benefits—zero electricity bills and widespread job creation in installation, maintenance and manufacturing. The Namo Drone Didi programme has empowered rural women to earn lakhs per season by offering drone-based farm services, spurring drone manufacturing and agricultural innovation.
He celebrated the milestone of 15 million “Lakhpati Didis,” women earning over Rs 100,000 annually under self-help schemes, and spoke of employment via PM SVANidhi and PM Vishwakarma, which support street vendors and traditional artisans respectively.
Modi announced that 250 million Indians have risen out of poverty in a decade, supported by these employment-generating schemes, and declared that Bharat is now ranked among the top global nations for reducing inequality. He said this transformation has instilled new self-confidence in the country.
He called on newly appointed government employees to act as enablers wherever they are posted, bringing ease and efficiency to public service. Modi said the next 25 years will determine the future of the nation and urged the youth to embrace their roles with resolve, compassion and commitment. He ended with an exhortation for government staff to live by the ethos of “Nagrik Devo Bhavo,” with citizens at the centre of every service and decision.
