0

INS Teg, the Indian Navy’s stealth frigate, is visiting Port Victoria in Seychelles from 26 to 30 June 2025 as part of its operational deployment in the South West Indian Ocean Region. The visit underscores India’s strategic commitment to fostering maritime security and deepening defence cooperation with Seychelles. During the five-day stay, the ship’s Commanding Officer will engage with top Seychelles leadership, including the Chief of Defence Forces, Chief of Staff of the Seychelles People’s Defence Forces, and the High Commissioner of India. A ceremonial handover of defence equipment and spares is also scheduled, reinforcing India’s support to its maritime partners.

The visit includes significant cultural and diplomatic engagement. A yoga session aligned with the International Day of Yoga 2025 theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health” will be held with participation from SPDF personnel, the Indian diaspora, and the ship’s crew. A cultural evening onboard INS Teg will bring together prominent figures from Seychelles and the Indian community, while the ship will remain open to visitors to familiarise them with the Indian Navy’s capabilities.

On 29 June, the ship’s marching contingent and the Indian Naval Band will participate in Seychelles’ 49th National Day parade. A ceremonial flypast by INS Teg’s helicopter will also be featured during the event. Concluding the port call, INS Teg will embark Seychelles Coast Guard personnel to conduct joint Exclusive Economic Zone surveillance from 30 June to 2 July, strengthening efforts against illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing. Following the operation, the frigate will continue with the next phase of its deployment.
