0

Governor of South Australia Frances Adamson met Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh in New Delhi to advance bilateral collaboration in space and marine technologies. The meeting coincided with the live telecast of the Axiom-4 mission, which features Indian astronaut Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla on board, carrying indigenously developed biotech kits to study microalgae growth in microgravity—an initiative blending space biology and medicine for long-term space survival.

Dr. Singh recalled milestones in India–Australia cooperation, including the 2012 Inter-Governmental Agreement and its 2021 amendment, along with recent Indian technical visits to Canberra for discussions on Gaganyaan’s crew module recovery. He emphasized the growing role of public-private partnerships (PPPs) and praised Australia’s International Space Investment – India Stream as a model for structured support to Indian startups.

The leaders also explored frameworks for India–Australia marine cooperation, focused on sustainable exploration and conservation, tying into the broader Blue Economy agenda.

Governor Adamson expressed admiration for India’s space achievements and pledged deeper scientific and cultural engagement between the two countries. Her visit underscored Australia’s recognition of India as a strategic and trusted partner in frontier technologies.
