Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the 11th International Day of Yoga celebrations from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, on June 21, performing the Common Yoga Protocol alongside over 300,000 participants at the main venue. The synchronized mass event—part of the ‘Yoga Sangam’ initiative—will unfold across more than 1 million locations nationwide, with over 20 million people expected to participate in yoga sessions. Andhra Pradesh alone has registered over 2 crore participants and plans to distribute 5 million yoga certificates, with a Guinness World Record attempt underway.

The nationwide theme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” embodies India’s holistic vision of global wellness, emphasizing the connection between human and planetary health. At Andhra University, 25,000 tribal children performed 108 Surya Namaskars in 108 minutes, underscoring grassroots inclusion and enthusiasm. In Delhi, 109 events including a major program at the Red Fort will mark the day, organized by Brahma Kumaris in collaboration with the Ministry of Ayush.

This year marks a decade of International Day of Yoga, commemorated through 10 signature events such as Yoga Sangam, Harit Yoga, Yoga Bandhan, and a Global Yoga Summit. Over 11 lakh organizations have registered for Yoga Sangam, far exceeding initial targets. Prime Minister Modi has also written directly to Gram Pradhans, sparking yoga activities in Panchayats, Anganwadis, and health centers nationwide.

India’s embassies and cultural centers across the globe are participating, amplifying yoga’s reach as part of the country’s soft power and wellness diplomacy. With massive participation at home and abroad, IDY 2025 reaffirms yoga not just as India’s ancient gift to the world, but as a tool for planetary healing and collective well-being.
