President Droupadi Murmu addressed probationers from three elite Indian civil services—Indian Corporate Law Service, Defence Aeronautical Quality Assurance Service, and Central Labour Service—at Rashtrapati Bhavan on June 18, calling on them to uphold the highest standards of governance, transparency, and public service. In a wide-ranging speech, she emphasized that their decisions would directly shape the lives of millions and urged them to act with integrity, empathy, and foresight.
Speaking to the Indian Corporate Law Service officers, Murmu underscored the critical role of the corporate sector in driving India’s economic growth. She said their responsibility in enforcing corporate laws would be central to fostering a transparent and innovation-friendly business environment. She called on them to support entrepreneurship and ensure that corporate governance frameworks remain robust and future-ready.
Addressing the Central Labour Service officers, the President highlighted their dual role as both enforcers of labor law and advocates for social justice. She urged them to balance the rights of workers with the needs of industry, promoting fair labor practices and harmonious industrial relations. Murmu emphasized that their work could help build a culture of mutual respect and equity in India’s evolving labor landscape.
Turning to the Defence Aeronautical Quality Assurance Service, Murmu stressed that quality assurance in military aviation was not merely a technical function but a strategic imperative. She said their work would directly impact operational safety, mission readiness, and India’s defense superiority. She called for rigorous adherence to global airworthiness standards and encouraged the officers to support India’s defense indigenization drive by enabling private sector participation through technology transfers and supportive policies.
Murmu’s remarks reflected a broader vision of India’s civil services as engines of national transformation. She urged the officers to remain grounded in public interest, embrace innovation, and act as torchbearers of a governance model rooted in accountability and compassion. The event marked a symbolic moment of generational transition, as India’s next cadre of civil servants prepares to navigate complex challenges in corporate regulation, labor equity, and defense modernization. The President’s message was clear: public service is not just a career—it is a commitment to shaping the nation’s future with courage, clarity, and conscience.
