India is driving global solutions through the talent and dynamism of its youth, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla declared in Jodhpur. Addressing students at the Indian Institute of Technology, Jodhpur, he emphasized that young Indians are no longer merely job seekers but are emerging as job providers, spearheading entrepreneurial ventures that bolster the country’s economy and technology landscape.
Speaking at the inauguration of the state-of-the-art Lecture Hall Complex-II at IIT Jodhpur, he highlighted how institutions like the IITs have played a crucial role in strengthening India’s startup ecosystem and reinforcing economic growth. He noted that Indian graduates are in high demand worldwide due to their skills, innovative thinking, and entrepreneurial zeal. As India advances on the global stage, it continues to harness the dual strengths of modern science and its deep-rooted spiritual traditions, creating a path for holistic national development.
Birla underscored that progress must be built upon cutting-edge technology while remaining anchored in ethical and inclusive growth. He pointed to India’s growing self-reliance in manufacturing, from defense equipment to everyday commodities like toys, as a reflection of the country’s commitment to Atmanirbhar Bharat. Digital innovation has further accelerated this transformation, ensuring India’s continued leadership in key industries.
Recognizing the pivotal role of higher education in national progress, the Speaker called for colleges and universities across the country to evolve into centers of excellence and innovation. He stressed that institutions must foster creativity and problem-solving skills rather than relying solely on traditional teaching methods. Research, entrepreneurship, and industry collaboration must be prioritized to drive India’s growth in science and technology.
Birla praised the contributions of IIT students, noting how their integration of modern technology with Indian intellectual traditions has enhanced the nation’s standing. He highlighted the importance of academic spaces as dynamic ecosystems where young minds can thrive, urging a renewed focus on quality education, faculty development, and world-class infrastructure to ensure Indian institutions remain competitive on the global stage.
He lauded IIT Jodhpur’s transformative efforts in global research, innovation, and scientific advancement, acknowledging its role in shaping new perspectives for youth in Rajasthan’s desert region. Commending the visionary leadership of Director Avinash K Agarwal, he applauded the institute’s initiatives in defense technology, sustainable development, and its contributions toward the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
Birla described IIT Jodhpur as a beacon of progress in a geographically challenging region, offering students access to world-class education and innovative opportunities.
