The Indian Army is undertaking extensive live-fire and capacity development trials across key locations, including Pokhran Field Firing Ranges, Babina Field Firing Ranges, Joshimath, Agra, and Gopalpur, to rigorously assess cutting-edge defence systems under simulated combat conditions. These evaluations integrate electronic warfare simulations, ensuring the realistic operational testing of indigenous military technologies.
General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff, reviewed the trials at Babina Field Firing Ranges on May 27, 2025, interacting with stakeholders and defence industry partners participating in the demonstrations. The trials mark a significant phase in the Indian Army’s ‘Decade of Transformation’ roadmap, accelerating the absorption of emerging defence technologies for evolving battlefield requirements.
The trials feature a wide range of advanced combat platforms, including Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), UAV-Launched Precision Guided Munitions, Runway Independent Remotely Piloted Aerial Systems, Counter-UAS Solutions, Loitering Munitions, Specialised Vertical Launch Drones, and Precision Multi Munition Delivery Systems. Additionally, key air defence and electronic warfare systems such as Integrated Drone Detection and Interdiction Systems (IDDIS), Low-Level Lightweight Radars, Very Short Range Air Defence Systems (VSHORADS), and Next-Generation Infrared Platforms are undergoing rigorous evaluation.
This large-scale demonstration reflects increasing synergy between the Indian Army and domestic defence manufacturers, strengthening India’s indigenous innovation and self-reliance in military technology. The initiative underscores the Army’s commitment to maintaining technological superiority, enhancing combat effectiveness, and ensuring rapid deployment of next-generation defence systems to safeguard national security.
