The National Defence Academy (NDA) marked a significant milestone on May 30, 2025, as the first-ever batch of 17 female cadets successfully graduated, making history in India’s military training landscape. They were part of the 336 cadets who passed out from the academy after completing the rigorous 148th Course – Spring Term 2025.
The Passing Out Parade (POP) was held at the iconic Khetarpal Parade Ground in Khadakwasla, Maharashtra, where 1,341 cadets participated, with General VK Singh (Retd.), Governor of Mizoram, serving as the Reviewing Officer.
The event showcased the cadets’ discipline, precision, and military bearing, culminating in a spectacular flypast featuring Chetak helicopters, Super Dimona motorized gliders, and Sukhoi-30 fighter aircraft.
Cadet Udayveer Singh Negi of ‘G’ Squadron commanded the parade with remarkable composure, while Lt Col Praveen Kumar Tiwari, astride his charger “Reliant Robin,” executed the ceremony impeccably.
Outstanding performers were awarded the President’s Gold Medal (Prince Raj), Silver Medal (Udayveer Singh Negi), and Bronze Medal (Tejas Bhatt). The prestigious Chiefs of Staff Banner for overall excellence was secured by Golf Squadron.
The passing out of female cadets represents a transformative milestone in NDA’s legacy, signaling a new era of gender inclusivity within India’s armed forces. Their journey reflects years of dedication, pioneering spirit, and the evolving role of women in military leadership.
