Indian business leaders are at the forefront of integrating artificial intelligence to achieve environmentally responsible outcomes, with 52% of executives actively using AI for sustainability, surpassing the global average of 39%, according to a report by US-based software firm Autodesk.
The study highlights a strategic shift among Indian companies, where sustainability is no longer seen merely as a compliance requirement, but as a core business strategy. Companies recognize AI’s ability to optimize resource management, reduce emissions, and improve operational efficiency, contributing to long-term environmental goals.
Optimism toward AI remains strong in India, with 79% of business leaders believing AI will positively transform industries, significantly higher than the global average of 69%. While leaders acknowledge AI’s disruptive potential—61% see it as a force reshaping their sectors—they also recognize its ability to drive innovation, particularly among digitally advanced enterprises.
Alok Sharma, Director of AEC at Autodesk India and SAARC, emphasized AI’s role in turning challenges into competitive advantages, helping companies meet regulatory standards while fueling revenue growth and attracting talent.
The report further reveals that 86% of Indian executives believe sustainability initiatives could boost annual revenue by more than 5%, while 84% of digitally mature firms report that AI-driven sustainability efforts help in talent acquisition and retention.
With 79% of Indian businesses planning to increase their AI investments, industry leaders stress that for India to maintain its technological edge, companies must build trust in AI and develop the right skills to unlock its full potential.
As AI becomes integral to corporate strategies, Indian firms are setting a global precedent by leveraging technology to drive sustainable growth, environmental responsibility, and economic advancement.
