India’s digital transformation continues at an unprecedented pace, with Aadhaar authentication transactions crossing 2,707 billion in 2024-25, including 247 billion in March alone. The surge highlights the growing adoption of Aadhaar across sectors, reinforcing its role in facilitating banking, finance, telecom services, and the seamless delivery of government benefits.
The cumulative number of Aadhaar authentication transactions has now surpassed 14,800 billion, showcasing its widespread utility. In March alone, Aadhaar Face Authentication witnessed 15 billion transactions, underscoring the increasing preference for AI-driven identification solutions developed by UIDAI. More than 100 government and private entities are now leveraging Aadhaar face authentication for improved service delivery.
Recognizing the impact of its innovation, UIDAI received the prestigious Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration on April 21, honoring its Face Authentication modality under the Innovation category.
Aadhaar e-KYC transactions continue to support ease of doing business, exceeding 44.63 billion in March—6% higher than the same period last year. The cumulative number of e-KYC transactions reached 2,356 billion as of March 31, 2025, demonstrating its integral role in financial and regulatory processes.
Additionally, Aadhaar generation and updates remain in high demand. 20 million new Aadhaar numbers were issued in March, while 191 million updates were successfully processed, ensuring citizens maintain access to essential services.
With Aadhaar cementing its place as a cornerstone of India’s digital framework, its expanding authentication ecosystem signals a future of enhanced security, streamlined governance, and improved accessibility for millions.
