The Tri-services Future Warfare Course is set to take place at the Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi from April 21 to May 9, 2025. This initiative, organized under the aegis of the Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff and coordinated by the Centre for Joint Warfare Studies, builds on the success of its first edition conducted in September 2024. It aligns with the vision of Chief of the Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, who advocates preparing military officers for the multifaceted challenges of contemporary warfare.
Expanding on its inaugural run, the course offers a comprehensive three-week program designed to deepen understanding of the ways technological advancements are reshaping warfare. It incorporates specialized topics and domain-specific developments across military operations, with a focus on revisiting traditional concepts, doctrines, strategies, and operational techniques. Discussions will also highlight the integration of indigenous defence industry capabilities to align operational priorities with national interests.
The course emphasizes fostering jointness and integration among the three Services, aiming to cultivate strategic leaders equipped to navigate increasingly complex warfare scenarios. Participants include Major Generals, Majors, and their equivalents across the Services, as well as representatives from departments under the Ministry of Defence, such as the Defence Research and Development Organisation. The inclusion of start-ups, micro, small and medium enterprises, defence public sector undertakings, and private industry further enhances the scope for collaborative learning.
By hosting diverse attendees, the course seeks to create a cohesive environment for discussions on the nuances of futuristic warfare, promoting innovative thinking and a joint approach to defence preparedness. This effort underscores the mission of the Armed Forces to remain future-ready and at the forefront of strategic leadership and modernization.
