India Post has announced a revision in inland Speed Post tariffs along with the launch of several new customer-centric features aimed at enhancing reliability, security, and convenience.
Originally launched on August 1, 1986, Speed Post has become one of India’s most trusted and widely used postal services, offering fast and secure delivery of letters and parcels across the country. As part of its modernization efforts, India Post has continually upgraded Speed Post to meet evolving customer needs and now introduces the following enhancements:
• OTP-based secure delivery
• Online payment options
• SMS delivery notifications
• Convenient online booking
• Real-time tracking
• Customer registration facility
The revised tariff structure, effective from October 1, 2025, is notified under Gazette Notification No. 4256 dated September 25, 2025. Key changes include:
Additionally, India Post now offers value-added services such as “Registration” and “OTP Delivery” for Speed Post items (documents/parcels) at a nominal fee of ₹5 plus applicable GST. These services ensure delivery only to the recipient or an authorized person.
To support students and attract new bulk customers, India Post is offering a 10% discount on Speed Post rates for students and a 5% discount for new large-volume clients.
These initiatives aim to position India Post as a secure, transparent, and technology-driven service provider, reaffirming its role as the most reliable and affordable delivery partner in the country.
