Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh): Yogi to unfurl the tallest Tricolour in Gorakhpur. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will unfurl the highest national flag in the state in the Ramgarh lake area on Wednesday.

The 246-foot-high Tricolour will be another addition to the attraction of Gorakhpur.

The flag would be visible from a distance of 15 km.

The Chief Minister will inaugurate the jetty entrance gate and the Buddha gate at the Ramgarh Lake. He will also be the chief guest of the closing ceremony of the two-day Gorakhpur Mahotsav, which starts on Tuesday.

Yogi will also distribute motorized tricycles among the differently-abled people.

It may be recalled that industrialist Amar Tulsiyan had started working on the highest flag project in December 2017 after taking permission from the Gorakhpur administration.

To date, the highest Tricolour in the state is in Ghaziabad, which is 211 feet high.

The flag in Gorakhpur would be 246 feet high and 540 square feet in area.

Meanwhile, talking about the Gorakhpur Mahotsav, Divisional Commissioner Jayant Narlikar said Bollywood artists have not been invited this year due to the Covid pandemic, and local artists would be promoted.

Tourism Minister Neelkanth Tiwari would be the chief guest at the Mahotsav inauguration on Tuesday and a Khadi fashion show would be held the same evening.

A bird watching and wildlife photo exhibition in the wetland of Shaheed Ashfaqullah Khan zoo would be held on Wednesday. The program is organized under the joint aegis of the forest department, Gorakhpur zoo, and Heritage Foundation.
