New Delhi: India’s limited-overs skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni failed to live up to the expectations on Thursday as he failed to make an impact with the bat against Jammu and Kashmir on the opening day of the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Dhoni, who is making a comeback in domestic cricket after eight years, was dismissed for 9 runs off 24 balls while representing his home state, Jharkhand.
Interestingly, Dhoni is not leading the side and is playing under the captaincy of India fast bower Varun Aaron.
The 34-year-old last played for Jharkhand in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match, way back in 2007.
He is playing Vijay Hazare Trophy to gear up for the hard and testing season ahead, which includes a limited-overs tour to Australia, T20 series against Sri Lanka, Asia Cup T20 followed by ICC World T20. One can’t also rule out a short series against Pakistan.
