Mumbai, December 21, 2015: State Bank of India is adjudged with the “Hellen Keller Award 2015” presented by National Centre for Provision of Employment of persons with disabilities [NCPEDP] and Lemon Tree Hotels for The Category ‘Role Model Company / NGO / Institution for its commitment towards promoting equal employment opportunities for people with disabilities’. The Award was received by Shri. Debashish Sarkar, CGM, & Head STU along with DGM [SBLC] Shubha Doorwar & Chief Manager, Inclusion Centre, Shri. Rakesh Kansal.
During the felicitation, SBI was hailed for its endeavors in making the workplace more conducive for employees / customers with disability, provision of 8600 + Talking ATMs with Braille Key Pads, Lockers and INB facility for visually impaired customers, accessibility and special service to customers with multiple disabilities.
In SBI, Visually Impaired / Hearing Impaired employees are imparted Specialized trainings aimed at their empowerment. Besides Computer Skills, Core Banking Solutions, Usage of JAWS/OCR, Excel Sheets, these trainings also cover sensitization of employees creating a conducive environment, disability awareness workshops, profiling, medical Check-ups, Assistive Aids/Devices, Identification and mapping of roles.
All the guest speakers emphasized that State Bank of India’s efforts for empowering the persons with disabilities shall be followed by other organizations too.
