Indian Railways are running shramik special trains for stranded labourers, labourers, tourists and students in various parts of the country at the request of the state governments.
Central Railway is running shramik special trains for various destinations in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Tripura, West Bengal, Uttarakhand, etc.
So far 225 shramik specials have left from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Mumbai, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Panvel, Thane, Kalyan, Bhiwandi Road on Mumbai Division; Nagpur, Wardha on Nagpur Division; Pune, Daund, Kolhapur, Miraj, Satara, Uruli on Pune Division; Solapur, Sainagar Shirdi, Ahmednagar on Solapur Division and Bhusaval, Amravati, Akola, Nashik Road on Bhusaval Division in which more than 2.9 lakh persons have been transported to their home. Mumbai Division alone ran 125 shramik special trains to Varanasi, Jaunpur, Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Gonda, Basti and Haridwar, Titlagarh and Lucknow etc.
Mr. Ranveer Singh and Mrs. Parvati Devi who were going to Jaunpur from Mumbai when asked they were happy and thanked the Ministry of Railways and also thanked the state government for arranging food and water. Along with this, they also appreciated the police administration for help.
Ms. Sania and Mr. Riyaz Khan were also going to Jaunpur in the same train, who said it is a pleasure because they were going to their native place and said thank you very much to the Prime Minister and the Railway Minister.
Each train had about 1400- 1500 passengers. People were wearing masks and followed social distancing.
