Indian Railways are running Shramik special trains for stranded migrants, workers, tourists and students in various parts of the country at the request of the state governments.
As on 30th May 2020, a total of 574 shramik special trains have been operationalised from 5 divisions of Central Railway carrying more than 7.5 lakh passengers. Out of this Mumbai Division alone ran more than 364 shramik special trains from Mumbai area to various destinations.
These 360 trains left for states like Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Odisha, Tripura, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Chhatishgarh, Jammu & Kashmir, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu.
Proper screening of passengers is ensured before boarding the train. During the journey, passengers are given free meals and water.
