Mumbai: Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) won Container Port of the Year and Newsmaker of the Year award at the Maritime And Logistics Awards 2017 held at The St. Regis Hotel in Mumbai on September 15, 2017.
Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited, Essar Port Trust, Haldia Dock Complex – Kolkata port trust and Kolkata Port Trust, were the others nominated for the Container Port of the Year award.
JNPT achieved record volume in container traffic of 4.5 Million TEUs in the fiscal year 2016-17, highest in the history of JNPT since 1989. JNPT is constantly upgrading and expanding its facilities to meet with the market demands. JNPT’s consistent efforts together with stakeholder’s support have been able to reduce congestion to zero levels. Under Ease of Doing Business, JNPT has implemented RFID-based gate automation process, Direct Port Delivery, Direct Port Entry and many other facilities for smooth business solutions for the EXIM Trade.
Neeraj Bansal, Deputy Chairman, JNPT dedicated the awards to the collective efforts of the JNPT team and stakeholders along with the constant support of the Ministry in making JNPT the No. 1 Container Port of India.
The All India Maritime And Logistics Awards (MALA) is one of the most prestigious awards of the industry and they hosted the eighth edition of awards this year.
