Despite National Herald case summon, Rahul Gandhi leaves for Puducherry

New Delhi: Despite the Delhi High Court summon to him in the National Herald case, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday morning left for Puducherry to visit the rain-affected areas.
He is scheduled to visit flood-battered Chennai as well.

The Congress vice-president informed about his tour through Twitter,”Will visit flood affected areas in Tamil Nadu & Puducherry tomorrow, Tuesday 8th Dec (sic).”
Reportedly, the Tamil Nadu unit of party has received orders of not publicising the Congress vice-president’s visit to rain-hit areas.

A Delhi High Court on Monday had refused to quash the summons to him and his mother Sonia Gandhi to appear on Tuesday before a trial court in the National Herald case.

Torrential rains in Tamil Nadu have left at least 25 people dead since October 1, according to Tamil Nadu government.
