B’day Special: V P Singh, former Prime Minister of India


New Delhi: Vishwanath Pratap Singh was born on 25th June 1931 in Allahabad. He was a veteran politician and the 8th Prime Minister of India.
He was born in a traditional landlord’s family that ruled the kingdom of Manda. His father was Raja Bahadur Ram Gopal Singh.
Vishwanath Pratap Singh married into the principality of Deogarh in Rajasthan to Sita Kumari in 1955. They were blessed with two sons Ajeya Singh and Abhai Singh. Ajeya Singh is a member of the Congress party now.
V P Singh was an avid reader and poet. He pursued BA, LLB and BSc from Allahabad and Pune University.
