Reviewed Forest Development Corporation work
Directing chief secretary to hold a review meeting about developing Balasaheb Thackeray Gorewada International Zoo at Nagpur through Public Private Partnership model and selecting the new entity for the PPP, chief minister Uddhav Thackeray assured that the state government would help in every manner for the development works in this Zoo. Chief Minister reviewed the progress of the work of Balasaheb Thackeray Gorewada International Zoo and Forest Development Corporation during a video conference meeting.
Let it become centre of tourist attraction
Stating that Balasaheb Thackeray Gorewada international Zoo is Centrally located in the country and it is a first of its kind project, the chief minister said that there is ample scope for development and it can become the big centre of tourist attraction in future. He asked officials to include a variety of things in this project which would attract tourists. He said that people should enjoy this Zoo and greenery needs to be maintained throughout the year in addition to maintaining various species of flora and fauna as well as wildlife. Ara Mill at Alapalli to be handed over to Forest Dev. Corporation
Forest Development Corporation is currently selling Gol Wood. Instead of this, the manufacturing of Chiran wood which is in demand in the market needs to be provided to people at a cheaper rate and for this, the meeting gave a nod to hand over Ara Mill of the forest department at Alapalli to Forest Development Corporation.
Set Up Eco-Park
Chief Minister directed the chief secretary to hold a meeting with the concerned department so that eco-parks could be developed through a scheme by Forest Development Corporation by utilizing solid waste in urban areas at the garbage sites in urban areas with financial assistance by municipal Corporations or concerned local bodies.
Re-plant the Trees
Pointing it out that trees are cut during the development related work chief minister Uddhav Thackeray suggested that forest development Corporation can be declared as the nodal agency to ensure re-planting of such trees instead of cutting those down.
The meeting also discussed issues like developing green zones on vacant lands of various Government departments including those of MIDC, Tribal Development through Forest Development Corporation as well as transferring the land for eco-tourism and related industries, implementing seventh pay commission to Forest Development Corporation employees, forest development corporation to be given 25 thousand hectares of cultivable forest land against land to be given for Kanhargaon Sanctuary, absorbing forest labourers in permanent service, recovering amount of Rs. 228 crores from the Government against the value of land returned to the forest department. Chief Minister directed the chief secretary to hold a meeting with the principal secretary to the forest department and concerned departments and submit its report to him.
